very nice article. Issues pertaining to the rain forest have been brought up several times. I personally feel that as one of the more economically sound countries the U.S. should offer incentives to 3rd world countries such as paying of debt in order for them to increase rain forest protection.

Thank you for your diligence … without people like you Glen, this great garden we live in would be reduced to nothing in short time by the constant hubris and myopia that pervades the consciousness of the people that claim to know how to run things properly for us on this planet.

Dear Dr Barry – you have made my day! For a palm oil company to not destroy and area is good. Can we now get the Government in Cote d'Ivoire to set this land aside as inviolable? I still think buying the bloody place would be a good idea. Good news instead of bad! Greer Hart

With all the environmental issues that we are encountered with daily, I am so pleased to read that a country has taken a step forward to save our rainforests. This one act shows other countries and the US, that our lands need to be preserved and that the loss of habitat, not only destroys our environment, but species that will never recover. Dr. Barry needs to be commended for his stance against the loss of these forests. We need more individuals like him to stand up for what is right and just.
